Wash Day
Our Price: $250.00
Wash day was usually on Mondays. The work involved hand scrubbing the dirty items, then boiling the clothes outdoors in big black pots, and hanging the clothes on the line to dry. Clementine Hunter did this many times during her years of working at Melrose Plantation. Her art is a visual history of the singular events of plantation life. A self-taught contemporary American artist, she gained international acclaim with a career of painting starting in her 50's and ending with her death in 1988 at the age of 101. Her works can be seen in the Smithsonian Institution, The American Folk Art Museum, and many other museums and private collections around the world.
We feature museum quality giclee on canvas.Dimensions: 16.0" x 24.0" x 1.5"
