Miss Liberty
Rev. Benjamin F. Perkins depicted a flat and boxy two dimensional gold Statute of Liberty. Inside Perkins wrote an inscription in red paint, "Miss Liberty welcomes those persecuted, sick, hungry, to the land of liberty to pursue happiness…This is America." According to Perkins, "all my works have a message. If art don’t tell me anything, it’s not art." The red writing along with the white stars in a blue background allude to the American flag. Reverend Perkins had a strong love of America, freedom, and the church which were the three primary inspirations for his art. He was pastor of his own church, Heartline Assembly Church of God. Rev. Benjamin F. Perkins artwork is featured in several major museums and private collections around the world.
